Welcome to Braxway shelties!! We are Rhoda and Matthew Burdett and we live in Hertfordshire, UK with our lovely Shetland Sheepdogs. Mostly they are (very spoilt!) pets but we also compete at Agility with them. They have also tried their paws at Obedience, Showing and Heelwork to Music. We now own three shelties and there is lots of info about them on their own pages. I work full time as a dog trainer and spend a lot of time teaching agility as we now have our own equipment. To contact me regarding training or our shelties/potential litters please e-mail [email protected].
Growing up in Scotland, I got my first Sheltie in 1992 and still maintain that she was the best Birthday present ever! Bramble was a beautiful shaded sable bitch who was tall at almost 18 inches. She had a fan club growing up and was even allowed to come on school trips and go in all the local shops, she was a real character! Having Bramble really fuelled my passion to learn more about dogs and their behaviour and training. When I went to university I studied Animal Biology and went on to do a Masters in Applied Animal Behaviour and Welfare at Edinburgh University. During my Animal Biology degree at St Andrews I met Matthew. He subsequently got introduced to Bramble and they instantly hit it off! Matthew had never had a dog before and when I moved down to England Bramble came to live with us.

Our current dogs
Sadly we lost Bramble in 2006 but not before she had instilled some manners in our young dog Bracken who we got as a puppy in 2005. Brax is the sheltie that really started us doing Agility as she had so much energy and enthusiam for learning new things. She may be small at 11.5 inches but she makes up for it by having a massive attitude!
Once Brax was two years old we started looking for another sheltie pup, preferably a boy. So in 2007, Brodie came along and is my little sheltie shadow! We got him as a pet without any ambition to do agility (Brax hadn't competed at this stage) and thought we'd do a bit of everything for fun. Well, he really took to agility and both dogs are now Grade 7 and thoroughly enjoying their agility!
In May 2011 just after Brax had competed at the World Agility Open Championships we were joined by our latest addition Brooke who was born in March 2011. A very pretty shaded sable bitch she does agility with Matthew and possibly have a litter at some stage with Brodie. In March 2013 we ventured to the dark side with the acquisition of a Border Collie puppy who we have called Sparkle. She is bouncy, cute, clever and keeping the shelties on their toes :)
